I have been pushing for a 4th child only so we can use the name Wolfie (even if he's a girl). Still quite miffed that we never got to use Storm Vaughan as we have 3 boys.

We spent many hours watching film credits for names as the books are all useless. I don't think Brian is an option though :)

Was just showing this to someone at work with a similar predicament and it suddenly struck me that there was a famous female Brian, as documented in the Life of Brian; on the crucifix one of the victims stated "My name is Brian, and so's my wife". There you go, conclusive proof ;-)

We will find a space for all the excess plants and those that we can't find space for we will put out by the front gate along with an honesty tin. The only problem with that is we will prob have to cement the tin to the path otherwise I can imagine us finding lots of plants but the tin 'done away with'!Failing that, we will have to set up an elaborate wiring system with cctv so anytime the tin is touched you are alerted by loud alarms being set off inside the house, we could also put up signs informing any would be pincher that not only is the tin attached to a direct call system to the local Police Station but also the tin will explode if in contact with any unknown fingerprints after 30 seconds and if that's not a big enough deterrent we have Alsatians patrolling on a regular basis!

The price of motoring is a prime reason why I don't have a car; luckily Portsmouth is compact and flat so is easy to get around on foot or bike and, if necessary, by bus. They're OK for getting from A to B, just so long as you don't need to arrive at B on time!
The money I save not having to pay, tax, insurance, MOTs, services, etc means the occasions I do need a car I can hire one and still be quids in, plus it means I get a sparkly new car every time as well :-)
I know it's not a viable option for everyone but if a few more people tried it they might find that owning a car isn't as essential as they thought.

PS Good to see you back!

Your closing line shows you are so bothered by the concept of the ad you missed the message!

The 'never knowingly undersold' message should mean that you've no need to go to Argos because John Lewis will match their prices.

For me, well conceptualised, well made, well targetted. If you don't like it then the ad is not aimed you.

Me and your Dad love it..........it's not depressing and we find it articulate and rather clever as it manages to be entertaining and a little thought provoking. It is an advert for God's sake. Nothing else, take it or leave it, we take it!

It's interesting, isn't it? The discussion, I mean, not the advert. My main problem with it is that it's just so cliched and boring. There's nothing challenging, nothing unexpected. As someone said on Twitter, it could have been made in 1940 and the woman's life wouldn't have been all that different. (Although I did notice on second viewing, that she seems to be working on a laptop at one point.) Also, yes, the reminder that my entire life will pass by in the blink of an eye (or the blink of a Billy Joel cover version) doesn't make me want to go and buy a sofa, no.

Ohh forgot, in the midst of my last tantrum. I saw an awful pro-BNP television cartoon recently aimed at kids. The puppet spouted this great long poem about Bow-di-seer (Boo-dica numb nuts) and how she fought for England against the invading roman army. The final line was "and Bow-di-seer was white".
She might have been, but she sure was an Angle and her family came here by boat from Europe.
